A century of Belgian comics

In the mid-20^th century, thanks to the inventiveness of its creators and the dynamism of its publishers, Belgium became the European leader in comic book publishing. To reach a wide readership, characters that were born in periodicals quickly crossed borders and expanded beyond frames. Merchandising, advertising, animated films, cinema, radio, television, video games and more, helped the heroes ​“made in Belgium” take root in the collective imagination, span generations, and even make their way to Hollywood. The exhibition A Century of Belgian Comics reveals the secrets of this epic journey in an immersive, poetic, and all-ages exhibition.
