A Daughter’s Tribute to Her Father - Fatou Cissé

Due to the recent passing of Souleymane Cissé on the 19^th of February, Bozar has chosen to screen the film by his daughter Fatou Cissé: A Daughter’s Tribute to Her Father. It will be a moment to reminisce and honor the legacy of this great malian filmdirector.
It is the story of a filmmaker told by his daughter. Through the testimony of his friends, family and close collaborators, this film traces the life of Souleymane Cissé from his childhood to today.
Fatou Cissé studied psychology at the University of Caen before returning to cinema to help her father manage UCECAO (Union of Creators and Entrepreneurs of Cinema and Audiovisual in West Africa). She is production director and co-manager of Films Cissé and helped her father with his film production as production manager for the films: Tell Me Who You Are (2009), O. Sembène (2013), and Our House (2015). She directed A Daughter’s Tribute to Her Father: Souleymane Cissé (2022) to shed light on the difficulties that her father was facing in getting his films made.
