All the Colours of the World Are Between Black and White by Babatunde Apalowo

This debut feature film, set in Lagos, Nigeria, tells the story of Bambino, a well-liked delivery driver in his neighbourhood, and his encounter with Bawa, a charismatic photographer. The two quickly become friends as they explore the city for a photography competition. However, through Bawa’s lens, a more intimate relationship develops. The growing attraction between the two men, in a country where homosexuality is severely punished, is central to the film. The characters navigate a hostile Lagos, where their glances and interactions convey the complexity of their desires and emotions.
This film is being screened at Bozar as part of our program Our Burning World: Love is Louder, which features a series of films for those looking to explore love in all its forms.
Premiering at the Berlin Film Festival in 2023, the film won the prestigious Teddy Award, which recognises LGBTQIA+ works. The director, Babatunde Apalowo, originally from Nigeria and now based in the UK, has crafted an intimate and visually polished piece, establishing himself as a promising filmmaker on the international stage.
