Hidden story – Sylvie Feron
Sylvie Feron (1898−1984) was a Belgian interior and furniture designer, graphic artist, textile designer and painter. As the great-granddaughter of one of the founders of the Vanderborght furniture business, she studied at the École des arts décoratifs in Paris in the 1920s. In 1934, she started a design studio in Brussels with her husband René Baucher. Their work was featured at key events such as the Milan Triennial and Expo 58.

In 2024, Design Museum Brussels received the archives of Sylvie Feron and René Baucher. It includes drawings, photographs, plans, textile and wallpaper samples and sculptures. The archive spans more than five decades and is gradually being inventoried and made accessible to researchers and the public.

The Untold Stories exhibition, running until 13.04.2025 at Design Museum Brussels, examines the professionalisation of women designers and follows their journey, including that of Sylvie Feron.
