Handel is the main man during the ’25-’26 season, with Il Giardino Armonico and Giovanni Antonini at his right hand. They have chosen to perform Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (The Triumph of Time and Disillusion): the first oratorio that Handel ever wrote at the age of 21. The characters personify universal concepts such as beauty, pleasure and disillusionment. They teach the 18th century audience a moralising lesson with a religious undertone. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the libretto was written by a cardinal from Rome. The roles are distributed among popular members of the leading ensemble: Giulia Semenzato (soprano), Julia Lezhneva (soprano), Carlo Vistoli (countertenor) and Krystian Adam (tenor). We can’t wait to welcome them back either.
