Would you rather run 42.195 km or spend an afternoon enjoying the musical genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart? La Monnaie has opted for the latter, with a concert full of the master’s choral pieces, overtures and concert arias.
Mozart’s oeuvre has been a cornerstone of the programmes put together by Peter de Caluwe at La Monnaie over the past two decades. A concert celebrating the versatility and enduring expressiveness of his scores was therefore the only possible way to conclude this chapter, according to the retiring intendant. To do so, he has invited a selection of established Mozart singers: Lenneke Ruiten, Ilse Eerens, Andreas Wolf and Anicio Zorzi Giustiani. Together with the Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of La Monnaie, conducted by Alain Altinoglu, they will bring a rich concert season across the finish line.
