Archives and French Literature Museum

Founded in 1958, the Archives and Museum of Literature (AML) is a center for documentation and research on the literary, theatrical and editorial heritage of French-speaking Belgium. The AMLs work within and in synergy with the Royal Library of Belgium and carry out the collect, study, cataloging, conservation, availability and presentation of documents relating to French-speaking Belgian authors and publishers, covering mainly the period from 1815 to present day. The AML also hosts a renowned international literary library, including a collection of literary magazines unique in Belgium as well as a collection of archives dedicated to Central Africa (Burundi, Congo, Rwanda). Its collections consist of manuscripts, correspondence, books, photographs, audiovisual documents, press clippings, posters, works of art, writers’ belongings…The reading room is temporarily closed to the public.
