The highly publicized exhibition Khorós by Berlinde De Bruyckere at Bozar is the focal point of the April Nocturne, which also celebrates two notable events: the 75th anniversary of the BelgianArtPrize – of which Berlinde De Bruyckere was one of the laureates – highlighted by an exhibition of Suchan Kinoshita, and the launch of the 41st edition of Art Brussels. On this occasion, Berlinde De Bruyckere’s works blend with the dance of Romeu Runa and are unveiled in the art film by filmmaker Mira de Boose. Adding to the immersive experience, MELANIN takes over the musical programme with a bold mix of live performance and DJ set.
Performances
Portuguese dancer Romeu Runa re-enacts the transformation of Actaeon, turned into a stag by Diana, the goddess of the hunt, after she saw him watching her bathe naked. Inspired by Berlinde de Bruyckere’s Romeu “My Deer” IV, Runa becomes a mythical creature, adorned with antlers.
Film
Mira de Boose’s documentary delicately explores the work of Belgian artist Berlinde de Bruyckere, renowned for the striking visual impact of her tortured human and equine figures. Without narration, but filled with poignant imagery, the film focuses on the locations, precise gestures, and the artist’s creative process.
Music
MELANIN takes charge of the musical part of this nocturne. Inspired by the work of Fallon Mayanja and Marvin Mtoumo, the performance Numb Feel brings together Manon K and Kongi. They represent two black bodies who love each other but dare not touch. Melancholic and chaotic rhythms made up of flute and electronics narrate the blurred line between connection and distance. From 10pm, MELANIN continues the nocturne with an immersive DJ set.

Three exhibition routes will be open throughout the evening: Berlinde de Bruyckere. Khorós, BelgianArtPrize. Suchan Kinoshita, and Gabriel Massan. Third World: The Bottom Dimension in the Bozar Arcade space. Guided tours will be available from 18:30 to 20:30.
