Bread and Salt is a powerful film that delves into social tensions and personal conflict. The film is inspired by true events and features non-professional actors, giving an authentic and raw quality. It follows Tymek, a talented young pianist returning to his small hometown in Poland, where time seems to have stopped. He witnesses a growing conflict between Arab kebab workers and his local peers, a clash that ultimately turns tragic.
Damian Kocur is a director, screenwriter, and cinematographer, known for his internationally recognized short films. His debut feature, Bread and Salt, won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 2022, and his short film As It Was was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2023. Under the Volcano is his second feature film.
