Craftsmanship and bold creativity give contemporary accents to a rich cultural heritage in one of the leading opera houses in Europe, having in-house workshops.

La Monnaie Opera House, one of the leading theatres in Europe, is an opera house with three hundred years of history. This magnificent example of European theatre architecture represents a rich historical and cultural heritage with contemporary accents. In 2000, La Monnaie opened its new rehearsal studios and workshops in a modernist building just behind the theatre. Besides Les machines de rêve” - a unique scale model of a baroque opera which shows the reconstruction of 18th century theatre equipment - la Monnaie also exposes art works of Daniel Buren, Giulio Paolini, Emile Fabry, Günther Förg, Sam Francis, Sol Le Witt, David Claerbout and Pierre Alechinsky.
