Notes From Sheepland follows Orla Barry, an extraordinary person who is both a visual artist and a shepherdess who floats between these two worlds. It’s a reflection on the primal, poetic and unpredictable bond she has with the natural world. Orla, who has been passionate about sheep farming for ten years, lived in Brussels before moving to the south-east of Ireland, where she breeds Lleyn sheep. Her work explores the tensions between her role as an artist and as an eco-farmer in a rural environment. Although breeding slows down her artistic career, it inspires her deeply, giving her balance between her studio and her sheep.
