In 2023, Sigur Rós unveiled Átta, their first studio album ten years after the release of their previous work. At the same time, they also gave a very limited series of orchestral concerts conducted by Robert Ames, during which they performed their new songs as well as many other extracts from their incredible catalogue, spanning their thirty-year career. The Icelandic trio is renowned the world over for its dreamy melodies with haunting, post-rock accents. Still led by the charismatic Jónsi, this unique band takes listeners on an atmospheric journey of disarmingly beautiful songs and exhilaratingly gentle rhythms. Each of their albums is a pearl of musical flavour to behold, with masterpieces such as Ágætis byrjun (1999), Takk… (2005) and Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust (2008). To see them now touring with a full orchestra, the Noordpool Orkest, is a total joy, bringing a subtly surreal and unprecedented dimension to their music.
