A woman vanishes: a plot point at the base of many masterpieces in the history of cinema. And in the hands of Laura Citarella, it turns into a beguiling piece of cinema. Two men take to the road in search of the woman: they both love her. Why did she leave? Each one of them has his own suspicions, and hides them from the other one who - mysteriously - never truly becomes his rival. The story of Trenque Lauquen switches fluidly between multiple genres (science fiction, lovestory, even horror), weaves together a number of fictions and is told in two parts.
Born in La Plata (Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina) in 1981, Laura Citarella graduated as a film director from the Universidad del Cine. Since 2005, she has been part of El Pampero Cine, an Argentine film collective. She directed films like Ostende (2011), La Mujer de los Perros (2015) and Las Poetas visitan a Juana Bignozzi (2019). Trenque Lauquen is her forth film.
