⎋ MONTAGE is a Brussels based collective and label focusing on experimental electronic music.
MONTAGE derives its name from a love for what they call edited music: music that manages to surpass genre-boundaries for narrative structure and experiment. MONTAGE has featured an array of different releases by artists as épong, Justin, TRESS, Dybbuk and many more. They strongly believe in representation in music. Lately, they have also been doing efforts for some more discourse-oriented work with a telegram group chat and some social media posts. A lot of this comes from the deliberate conflation of alternative culture with alternative ideas.
♳ Julek Ploski (live)
Julek is a DJ Hero and Tesco warrior, ever searching for more. This Warsaw based artist makes classical inspired internet music with a twinkle in their eye. Julek had the following to say about their career: “when you’re finally a DJ Hero expert you have to go on and do something more. you live too close to Tesco so you make an album called “Tesco”, you move to Warsaw, you play some gigs, you dj, you play some more gigs, you release your second album “śpie” in Gin&Platonic, your cinematic hardcore “Human Sapiens Ep” in Pointless Geometry, your trailer-core ep “Julek! Julek! Julek!” in glamour.label that you owned, you finally finish your third, epic, cinematic LP “Hotel *****” for Orange Milk Records and you’re so happy it’s out, you start BFF Music label, you work on an EP for Dyspensa Records and there’s like a thousand other songs in the making …”
♴ Elvira Del Rocio (live)
Elvira del Rocío, singer-songwriter and multidisciplinary artist based in Valencia, presents LifeLover, her first LP: An ode to daydreaming and the love of living. Linking scenographic sculpture with her musical practice, she encompasses the genres of folk-rock, shoegaze and emo-grunge, among others. The guitar and sung poems make up Elvira del Rocío’s musical pieces. Her direct link with the world of Fine Arts generates a characteristic aesthetic and visual identity that make up the Paracosmos of her live shows.
♵ Inferior Design (live)
Inferior Design, the moniker of Brussels-based artist Isaac Barbé, creates ambient music from his small bedroom studio on the top floor of a dilapidated office building. This is internet music to patch your soul.Isaac’s debut album, …to be whole, takes us on a 40-minute journey through experimental sound design. Soft melodies gently guide us forward, while rubbery plucks and icy stabs keep us on edge. This is computer music at its purest: layers upon layers of processed samples and snippets, forming a beautiful collage. We hear arpeggios drift in and out, while gentle pads wash over rhythmic soundscapes.
